For my senior project at Cazenovia College, I decided to create an animatic music video as a way to properly demonstrate my skills in character design and storyboarding. I had many different options in mind for the particular song, but I eventually settled on the song “Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News” from the 1974 musical “The Wiz”. I pressed ahead, creating a script, a series of rough character designs and turnarounds, a 14-page storyboard, and a more cleaned up animatic. Inspirations for the overall aesthetic of this project included the films of Tim Burton, classic Warner Bros. short “The Aristo-Cat”, and the “Land of Oz” books by L. Frank Baum.
