The goal of this entirely original project was to take a pre-exisiting character, and draw them in a scenario that takes them out of their comfort zone. I drafted up a list of animated television series, and I slowly narrowed it down to the Japanese animated show: Sailor Moon. I decided that taking one of the villain characters from Sailor Moon out of their comfort zone would provide for a humorous illustration. After some deliberation as to which villain I would draw and watching a classic Looney Tunes short titled “Hamateur Night”, I settled on drawing a comic relief villain named Sailor Iron Mouse performing a passionate soliloquy at a local theater’s amateur night.

After coloring the picture in traditionally, I decided that a few digital elements would help enhance the image overall. So, I added some shadows to Sailor Iron Mouse and parts of the area surrounding her, and I added some type to the sign advertising her performance.
